How do I hear/feel God?

this is a serious question.. i know people that hear/feel god (and see postings about people's experiences), but i have not experienced this.

i have never heard anything audibly (or otherwise) nor "felt" anything inwardly.. i've prayed, read, quieted my thoughts, etc...but still nothing..

Sweet Baby> Thanks for the reply. Believe me I do understand the headach of attempting to reason with a JW family. I am a 3rd generation dub and of course don't have too many non-witness friends (attempting to rememdy that currently). I also live in the bible belt as well, I don't know if NC is the buckle or what, but there are plenty of SB around here as well. As I stated before, each person has every right to believe what they do and I truly do not have a problem with that.

Yes, I still believe in God, but I am open to other ideas, it is just that so far this seems like the best explanation to me. I would never say I understand creation/the bible/the trinity etc. When it comes to deeper matters like that I think everybody opinion is equally worthless. I look at it as if we are a bunch of aboriginies (sp?) that have never heard music sitting around a campfire trying to discuss the benefits of a Bethovan vs. Mozart. Or Guns N' Roses vs. Red Hot Chili Peppers, whichever way you want to go.

I guess what I am saying is I don't know everything, that's for sure. But I do know for sure that this organization is wrong, and I want my family out. That I do know for sure. That is the only reason I said anything about the post.

Xchange> I will have to give you that one. Back in my high school days I was a pretty heavy smoker myself. I quit school and quit smoking pot. Then about 5 years later took it up again. I even took it with me to an assembly. I can give you a good tip of what NOT to do in the parking lot of a motel near an assembly.

I was leaned over rolling a joint below the level of the dash figuring no one could see. I did not take into account the bigmouth "sister" that was on the balcony above where my car was parked. Ended up before it was over with me and 16 of my friends all in committee meetings. My committee came back as DF but I appealed and got PR ont he appeal.

Anyway, that was long ago. All I am saying is that some of these comments, if seen by the wrong person, would reinforce exactly what the GB is saying. In otherwords we make them look right when we do this. You know how some CO's, DO, and especially JF Rutherford and Russell not to mention Fred Franz and Losch have done so much damage to the organization because they have diareaa of the the mouth? I just worry about doing that from the other direction. I would hope this forum can help pull as many as possible away from the BORG, but new visitors who Witness are witnesses do come on this site, perhaps trying to find out more about Candice Conti for instance.

When they do, it is my hope that the thread they choose to read does not have a comment like: "God touched my penis"

It just seems antiproductive.

Sweet Baby, I do not want to start a flame war or anything, however I wonder if you have considered how a comment like that would look to a JW that stumbles upon this site. Obviously I no longer believe in the FDS (although I still do have believe in God) and just as obviously you no longer believe in God, and that is fine with me. I think everyone should have the right to believe whatever they want too without being belittled for their values.

However, unless I am mistaken most if not all of the posters on this site (yourself included) all have one thing in common, we would like to help get any friends or loved ones we still know in the organization get out. If you have no friends or loved ones in, it seems to me that you still have to want to get as many out as possible.

Put yourself in the position of a JW just learning the TATT. They discover some of the things the society has done/ is doing and they start to question. The society paints a picture of all apostates as bitter, backstabbers, that don't love God and so on. Just imagine that once, that one time someones wife, husband or child screws up the nerve to look at a site like this and they see you comparing God to piece of sh**. I understand your view and I can even see the humor in it (from your standpoint) but I really wonder if it is that funny to risk turning away the very type of person that this site so badly needs to reach.

Again, I am not trying to start anything, I am not trolling, I just saw this and thought I might mention. Have a great day, and if your god keeps giving you trouble stay away from beans : )

My Grandmother had diabetes. A book I found that was really excellent and a very interesting read was called "Sugar Blues" by William Duffy. It is not only about diet but has some facinating history of sugar and how it has affected civilizations. I found it facinating.

hello all at jwn!

i have been a lurker here the last few months and have been going through the process of researching both sides of the story of jehovahs witnesses.

i was raised in the borg, got married and now have a young child.. my wife is very much dedicated to the organization and will justify anything the "slave" does putting it off on the borgs imperfection.

Welcome to the forum. I too am struggleing with a wife that just can not see that the faithful and discrete slave lies. I also have to agree with Black Sheep. Do not try to "tell" her anything, believe me it just does not work. Ask questions, help her to think. For yourself I highly reccomend In Search of Christian Freedom by Ray Franz. If you look on P2P sites it is available as a .mp3 so you can listen to it in the car when you are alone.

There is also a guy named Wilbur Lingle. Just Google his name and see if you can get any of his stuff. He has some pretty good ideas on helping your family.

Not to hijack this thread, but the "mother" analogy brings to mind another problem they have. The UN NGO issue. If the org is "mother" then that would go something like this:

Father is away for a long time. He leaves mother in charge of all the kids. One of the children finds out that mom is spending every Wednesday down at a coffe house flirting with Fathers biggest enemy. She knows how the children would feel abou this, so she does it on the sly. What happens though when one of the children finds out. Perhaps you confront Mom and say, "Look, what you are doing is wrong, and dad would not approve" The mother then says "Ok, ok, we were just having coffee, it is not like I was actually sleeping with him, I will stop having coffee with him, but you better drop it, if you don't let it go I will turn all your brothers and sisters against you. Who do you think they will believe, me their loving mom, or you? Consider yourself warned!

To me if you are going to call the org, mother that analogy fits the UN/NGO mess to a tee.

I remember a cartoon that was in the "Watching the World" section of Awake!. It was cracking on churches that used ATMs for donations. I believe it had a caption something to the effect of: "do I get to go to heaven with my airline points?" or something like that. Does anybody have a .jpeg of that cartoon? I would love to share it with my wife.

I don't really have a huge problem with them using a card reader since it is true that not as many people carry cash as used to. However I do have a HUGE PROBLEM with the hypocricy of running down evil "Christendom" for doing the exact same thing.
